Welcome! Or welcome back, depending of course on your dedication to my very inconsistent blogging career.
Much has changed since I last made an attempt at blogging.
But what is really important to myself and to you as the reader is relaying my goals and aspirations for whatever this might become.
Background
Lately, I’ve been trying to find my groove on various social media platforms, posting about my travels, a short stint analyzing my favourite baseball team, the Toronto Blue Jays (Go Jays, Go!), and more recently a bit about the new hobbies I’ve been trying at the early stages of my 30’s. But there isn’t anything that seems to stick long-term. Travel is expensive and can’t be done all the time, especially with a full-time job. Not to mention that when I do get the opportunity to travel, I want to relax and soak up every fleeting moment, not continuously have to try to remember to setup shots, find the perfect lighting, and film something that feels curated and disingenuous. Talking about baseball is difficult. I’m a fairly new fan (I don’t want to hear anything about bandwagon hopping for the 2025 post-season, I watched the entire season, I just found my love for baseball late in life and by myself, without family influence) which made research a gruelling task and with almost daily games, I found myself always falling behind. As for the hobbies, there is potential to make some very fun content, but I fear that I’m now confusing my audience with the constant changes.
Going Forward
With all that being said I still love creating! I look back at my handful of travel YouTube videos and TikTok’s that I spent hours on with such fondness and pride. Every time I dare to take a brief glance (with deep-seated fear of the impending cringe) all I end up thinking is, I created that. I’ve often struggled with feeling like I’m perpetually stuck in my parents shadow. As successful entrepreneurs, I’ve felt like I too needed to create something of my own. And although I’ve definitely played my part in helping their business to grow, I can never quite shake the feeling that it isn’t really mine. It wasn’t born out of what I was passionate about pursuing. I am blessed beyond belief to be in the situation that I am in, with a family business that I can be a part of, but I also long for meaning of my own.
This has all lead me here. Someone searching for meaning, wanting to create, and who doesn’t always like talking to cameras (not to say that I won’t ever again though ;)).
